Getting Ready for Summer Camp Checklist
Overnight summer camps will require the following items:
Enough clothes (remember to label them with clothing labels) for a week, including:
- Rain jacket (that can also double as a light jacket)
- One or two sweaters or hoodies
- Comfortable, durable & water resistant footwear (already worn in)
- Extra socks & underwear (just in case)
- Pajamas & slippers
- Hat
- Swim wear, swimming hat & goggles
Don’t forget to pack their toothbrush plus:
- Toothpaste (floss and anything else for kids with braces)
- Shampoo (that also doubles as soap is ideal)
- Towels – 2 x small (face & hands) & large (showers and swimming)
- Sun protection lotion
- Insect repellant
- Medications (if needed)
Other camp essentials:
- Water bottle
- Backpack
- Sleeping bag and pillow
- Durable watch (waterproof & shockproof are best)
- Diary or notepad & pen for your child to track their adventures
- Flashlight and spare batteries
- Pocket money to buy goodies
Depending on where your child is going, for how long and what age they are, you will need other items that you should be able to find out from the camp that they’ll be going to. A lot of older kids will want to bring their MP3 players along, so make sure to get them labeled.
Remember to make sure to order your camp labels around 3 - 4 weeks in advance to make sure you’ll get them in time for summer camp.
