Decorative Paint Effects
How to Create
a Wavy
or Curved Paint Effect
To create curved painted areas on your kids wall just follow the
easy steps below.
You'll need to allow your wall to dry for approx. 2 weeks
before applying any Wall Graphics from Bright Star Kids range.
Step 1

To get an impresive looking Wave/Curved Effect, simply draw your desired curved on the wall in pencil and mask up the side you won't be painting.
Pay attention to the placement of the top of the masking tape
and the bottom part will fall into place |

Painting Tips
Cover Up With Masking Tape
& Avoid Mess

To avoid painting over light switches or if you're painting
a different colour on the walls than the ceiling, use
masking tape to cover anything that you don't want painted. Spending 10 or 15 minutes putting strips of masking tape
around doors and light switches, can save hours trying
to fix mistakes and allows you to get the job looking
great and done in no time.
|
Step 2
When you're happy with the curved line, use a
roller or a small paint brush and paint up to and including
the edge of your masking tape line. Don't worry about getting
some paint on the masking tape, as this is used to protect your
wall.
|
|
Step 3
Remember to give the wall 2 coats of paint if
you plan to use Bright Star Kids removable wall graphics. When
you've finished painting, slowly remove the masking tape and discard. |
Step 4
For a two colour paint effect, go through steps
1 - 3 except this time you want to make sure that the other
paint has dried very well. Place the masking tape on top of
the other colour concentrating on the bottom edge of the masking
tape.

|
Step 5
When you're happy with the line you have created,
use a roller or small paint brush and paint up to and including
the smooth, inside edge of your masking tape line. |
Step 6
After you've given the wall 2 coats of
paint you can carefully remove the tape and discard. |

Finished Paint Effect
Fantastic. You've created a perfect curvy line. You can also use this method to create perfect straight lines, e.g. stripes. |
If you'd like to see how Bright Star Kids have used the curvy paint effect, check out our Fairy Wonderland and Under The Sea rooms. To see how easy getting a perfect straight line is have a look at our Dinosaurs Playground room. |
